A group of older moviegoers from Sousse and from the Tunisian Federation of Ciné-club took the initiative to create the FIFEJ whose first session was held in 1991.

In the development of the festival and from the 2nd session (December 1994) joined the festival for many people, young people and adults from different backgrounds to make regular contributions at different levels.

With the approach of the sessions, a hundred people on average are working to prepare and manage the festival. Many of these people volunteer and adhere to the ideals of FIFEJ. Many partner institutions and organizations, Tunisian and foreign, also provide support.

FIFEJ Why?

FIFEJ The festival is a biennial competitive, devoted to cinema for children and young people from different countries of the world and especially third world countries. He wants to be a truly open space for youth and children passionate about the film, which is its true originality.

To achieve this purpose, in addition to its film component (on average 150 feature and short films divided between competitions, information and tributes), the FIFEJ created a section called "International Meeting of Youth" which is during the festival some 300 Tunisia and youth from different countries who are invited to participate in activities and initiation of birth in 30 to 40 workshops, a forum where they discuss with professionals and a program to nightlife. Thus, at the last session (December 2003), the FIFEJ managed the presence of 500 people between film professionals and youth festival.
